Varnished nails look beautiful and well-groomed when new, but too often a beautiful varnish is just a memory a couple of days later. If the nail polish doesn’t stay on, there may be a problem with the quality of the nail polish, the condition of the nails, or the varnishing routine. This article reviews the best tips and products on how to make nail polish last in any situation.
1. USE HIGH QUALITY NAIL POLISH
The first is to focus on how to nail it. The quality of the nail polish matters. Personally, I always choose a salon-quality varnish, because because they are intended for professionals, behind them is usually a long development process with brush patents and other subtleties.
Expensive price is not always a guarantee of quality. A brand can be valuable, but know-how is on the side of makeup, for example. Often the best varnishes can be found in a series where nails are the thing to do, and nail polishes are not just an additional product. In consumer sales, I think the best nail polishes can be found at OPI, and that’s why it feels good to do this posting in collaboration with them. I have used OPI strikes a lot while already working in a nail salon, and there are still a lot of them.
At OPI nail polishes, I like that they are designed to dry really fast. One of the biggest problems for myself is that I don’t expect Malta to dry up, but I’m starting to fiddle with something. OPI varnishes have a shorter drying time on average, so Malta also uses both primer and topcoat. The layers ensure the permanence of the varnish.
Another thing I like is that the brush for OPI varnishes is designed to be as easy to varnish as possible. It releases just the right amount of nail polish so that the varnish spreads beautifully and doesn’t spread anywhere. When the varnish does not spread on the skin or cuticle, it stays longer.
2. STORE YOUR NAIL POLISH CORRECTLY
Even a good varnish expires over time, i.e. when you first open the varnish and it comes in contact with the air, the varnish starts to age. However, you can slow down the aging of the varnish by always closing the cap tightly and tightly to prevent the essential ingredients from evaporating. High temperature and light can also degrade the quality of the varnish, meaning the bathroom or window sill is not the right place for nail polish. Store nail polishes at room temperature, protected from light. Of course, you can also try the fridge in the hot summer.
The newest varnishes themselves about every two years, as the varnish in good condition stays in the nails longer. If your own lacquer stocks need to be renewed, you will find wonderful shades in OPI’s autumn DTLA seasonal collection. We spent quality time with the girl and filmed a varnish video from the DTLA collection. The girl’s favorite shade is definitely pastel purple Graffiti Sweetie. At the moment, my favorites are all that glitter, which means that the Metallic Composition, which sparkles with rose gold, has been the most used.
3. MAINTAIN YOUR NAILS
If the nail is brittle, slippery or easily broken, the nail polish will not stay beautiful for long. It is therefore important to take care of your nails. First aid for almost all healthy nail problems is nail oil. Nail oil must be small molecule in order to nourish nails as well. Many nail care products contain mainly silicone or other surface beautifying products, so it is worth paying attention to choosing the right oil by researching the inci list.
In addition to other moisturizing ingredients, the most important raw material in OPI Nail & Cuticle nail oil is avocado oil, which works excellently in nail care. It keeps the nails flexible and prevents the nail plates from coming apart. Nail oil should be used like any other skin care product, i.e. morning and evening. Also use a file for natural nails that does not tear nails. The roughest file to use is 180.
Comprehensive nail care is coming soon, so stay tuned if you want to take care of your nails <3!
4. STOP NAILS CORRECTLY
Use both primer and topcoat. The primer attaches the paint to the nail and smoothes the surface for a beautiful varnish. OPI’s base coat is also designed to prevent slipping. The topcoat , on the other hand, protects the varnish from external stresses such as bumps and wear. It also gives the varnish a wonderful shine. Try it, you’ll notice the difference! If you want to get easier, you can use a multifunctional product, such as OPI’s Start to Finish varnish , which acts as both a primer and a topcoat, and also strengthens your nails. This is a product I usually use for customer varnishes.
With paint varnish, be careful not to touch the skin or cuticle. To remove a dead skin cell from the nail surface, push the cuticles and gently file with a soft file at the base of the nail. Remove grease and oil from the nail surface before varnishing with nail polish remover. Make two thin layers rather than one thick layer.
5. TRY MORE DURABLE PHOTOGRAPHIC STRIPS
If you feel that your traditional paint varnish is not staying properly, you can try more durable, light-cured varnishes. They are an intermediate form of gel polishes and traditional nail polishes in salons. OPI Infinite Shine is, as the name implies, a more permanent varnish than average. The trick is in a topcoat that is protected from light in a black bottle. It cures the undercoat layer under natural or artificial light.
It is as easy to use as a regular nail polish and does not require a UV oven, just plain light is enough. Apply one coat of Infinite Shine ProStay Primer , followed by two coats of Infinite Shine Varnish , and finally Infinite Shine ProStay Geleffect . You can easily identify them by the fact that the bottles have a silver cap.
For myself, these Infinite Shine varnishes last about twice as long, so if a normal varnish stays for 4 days, this stays 8. Plus, the gloss is great. Removal is easy with a standard nail polish remover.
